Investigation into gas lubrication performance of porous gas bearing considering velocity slip boundary condition

Abstract Porous gas bearings (PGBs) have a proactive application in aerospace and turbomachinery. This study investigates the lubrication performance of PGB with condition velocity slip boundary (VSB) owing to high Knudsen number film. The Darcy-Forchheimer laws modified Navier-Stokes equations were adopted describe flow porous layer film region, respectively. An improved bearing experimental platform was established verify accuracy derived theory reliability numerical analysis. effects various parameters on pressure distribution, cycle, load capacity, mass rate, profile are demonstrated discussed. results show that can both directions, from or reverse. capacity increases an increase speed inlet decreases permeability. rate as permeability increase. Furthermore, simulation using VSB agreement results, average error 3.4%, which indicates model achieves accuracy. ignoring overrate by 16.42% undervalue 11.29%. may aid understanding mechanism PGBs development novel lubricants.
